While Mumbai is ready to welcome the beloved Bappa, the enthusiasm of Ganesh devotees has come down owing to the restrictions laid on the use of loudspeakers. During Ganeshotsav, the state government has allowed to play loudspeakers till 12 midnight, but only for three days. Due to the immersion of Gauri-Ganpati on the fifth day, the permission till 12 midnight on the seventh day has been cancelled by the state government. Public Ganeshotsav mandals have expressed displeasure over the state government's reduction of one day while Brihanmumbai public Ganeshotsav mandals have been demanding an extension of the day for loudspeakers.


Beloved Bappa will arrive on September 19 and the enthusiasm of the devotees has reached its peak. A demand was made to the government to extend the days of permission to install loudspeakers till 12 midnight during Ganeshotsav, but one day has been reduced out of the existing four days. In this regard, the coordination committee will follow up with Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, said the chairman of the coordination committee Adv. Naresh Dahibavkar said.

According to the instructions of the state government, this year the list of 11 out of 15 days has been announced by the district collector. Loudspeakers can be installed till 12 midnight on Shiv Jayanti, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti, Maharashtra Day, three days of Ganeshotsav, two days of Navratri, the day of Lakshmi Puja in Diwali and Christmas on December 24 and 31.
