Gateway of India, which is also known as the entry gate of Mumbai, will be closed for the next 4 days. This is because some work of the Indian Navy is being carried out here. Gateway of India will remain closed from December 1 to 4th. This may cause inconvenience to people travelling to Alibaug, Mandwa or Elephanta Caves as they might have to go via Bhaucha Dhakka. Every day lakhs of Mumbaikars and tourists visit Gateway of India.

4th December is celebrated as Navy Day. Every year on this day, Beating the Retreat is celebrated and this year will be no different. Navy will be holding this function on 4th December. They will be holding rehearsal from 1st to 3rd Dec. People wanting to take a ferry can take one from Bhaucha Dhakka. However, Bhaucha Dhakka is a crowded place and this may add to the chaos there.
