The government, in order to ensure availability of quality medicines at affordable prices to all, has started the scheme Pradhanmantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadi Yojna. In regard with this, a centre has been opened in Borivali (West) near Bhagwati Hospital.
In the medical store, one can avail medicines at a cheaper rate. Around 40%-80% discount will be provided on the medicines. The medical remains open from Monday – Saturday. The timings for the medical are scheduled at 9.00am – 9.00pm.
Private Doctors prescribe expensive branded medicines stating that generic medicines are not that effective. Poor and illiterate patients were misguided due to this. In order to avoid this MCI had warned doctors to prescribe generic medicines.
