Mumbai Guardian Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha on Wednesday, October 4, inaugurated the repaired public toilets under ‘Lot 12’ in Nityanand Nagar, Bandra (West).

This initiative is a part of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC)’s slum clearance program.

On this occasion, MLA Ashish Shelar and several BMC officials were also present.

Moreover, at the inaugural event, the guardian Minister also announced that 40,000 toilets will be constructed for the slum dwellers in the suburbs in the near future. Of these, 12,000 toilets will be newly constructed, while 28,000 toilets will be renovated and given a new look. The demand for toilets of citizens living in slums were ignored till now but not anymore, he added.

For this project, a whopping amount of INR 638 crore has been allocated from the funds of the guardian minister and the BMC.

“I am delighted to see the launch of the toilet construction scheme designed keeping in mind the basic needs of slum dwellers in suburban Mumbai. Under this scheme, state-of-the-art, clean and safe toilets will be constructed for the citizens. We are trying to complete this project as soon as possible to reduce the difficulties of Mumbaikars. Our government remains steadfast in promptly addressing citizens' issues. We are committed to resolving problems faced by the people,” asserted Lodha.
