As the city witnessed incessant overnight rainfall, several areas of Mumbai caused waterlogging and traffic along with disruption to some public transport services such as train service delays and BEST bus diversions.
Apart from this, several flights at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) are getting either being diverted or cancelled. Major airlines have advised passengers to check their flight status and expect delays.
On Thursday morning, July 25, heavy rain and strong winds caused poor visibility. This led to a brief halt in flight operations at Mumbai airport at 10:36 AM. However, operations resumed after 20 minutes when visibility and runway visual range improved.
IndiGo reported occasional delays due to the rain. The airline is providing real-time updates and has urged travellers to verify their flight status before heading to the airport.
Air India also informed its customers of potential delays. The airline warned that severe rain might impact flights to and from Mumbai. Travellers should arrive at the airport early to account for possible waterlogging and traffic delays.
SpiceJet also said bad weather could affect all arrivals and departures at Mumbai airport and subsequent flights. Its request led travellers to monitor their flight status.
