There will be about 18,000 personnel on bandobast duty in other parts of Thane district that are under the control of Thane Rural Police, Navi Mumbai Police, and Mira-Bhayander Police. Navi Mumbai's Zone-1 will have about 950 personnel deployed, while Zone-2 will have around 900 personnel patrolling the streets on Thursday.

In zone 1, approximately 950 personnel have been stationed. It includes 650 police officers, a Riot Control Police team of 36 officers, a zone-1 striking squad of 15, and two teams of 30 officers each from the ACP Vashi and Turbhe divisions. Eid-e-Milad Preparations

Similar preparations have been made for Eid-e-Milad processions, which will be observed on Friday. Eid processions would have originally been held on Thursday. But, at the request of the police, Muslim organisations decided to hold it on Friday to maintain law and order in the city.

Traffic Advisory:

The Mumbai Traffic Police has issued a traffic advisory prohibiting the entry of large trucks and heavy vehicles on Greater Mumbai roads during Ganesh Visarjan. Vehicles transporting essentials are exempt from this rule.

Moreover, several roads have been closed and declared no parking owing to the Visarjan procession in South Mumbai.

CCTV Surveillance

On Anant Chaturdashi, thousands of private and public Ganesh idols will be submerged at 73 designated locations. Some of them are Girgaon Chowpatty, Dadar Chowpatty, Aksa Beach, and Juhu Chowpatty. These locations will also be patrolled by local police units.

Temporary control rooms equipped with CCTV cameras have been set up by the Mumbai Police to monitor crowds. The processions will be closely monitored by CCTV cameras. In order to maintain law and order, police officers in plain clothing will mix with the crowd.

Arrangements at Immersion Sites

Authorities have put up 250 control rooms, 178 of which will be in man-made ponds and 72 at natural water bodies. BMC has also erected 468 steel plates along several seafronts so the vehicles transporting the idols won't become stranded in the sand. For giant Ganpati idols, the BMC has also arranged for 46 German rafts.

In addition to setting up 242 inspection towers at the water bodies, firefighting trucks and qualified personnel have also been deployed at the immersion places. According to reports, 96 ambulances will continue to be parked at the immersion locations. BMC previously reported that 68 welcome posts had been set up at various immersion locations.

BEST:

With the help of the Mumbai Electric Supply and Transport Undertaking (BEST), about 27 searchlights and 1,083 flood lights are also placed for efficient lighting at the immersion sites. There are also changing facilities, and 150 "Nirmalya Kalash" are available at many locations.
