The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Mumbai, Thane, and Raigad districts, predicting heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in these areas.

According to the warning issued by IMD Mumbai, the city is likely to experience strong winds at speeds of 30–40 km/h, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and very heavy rainfall. A warning has also been issued for residents in Mumbai, Thane, and Raigad to exercise caution.

Due to the rain, local train services, considered the lifeline of Mumbai, are running late, causing major inconvenience to office-goers and students during the morning rush hours.

  • Central Railway services are running 10 to 15 minutes late

  • Harbour Line trains are delayed by 7 to 10 minutes

  • Western Railway services are also affected, with trains running about 5 minutes late
