The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Mumbai, Thane, and Raigad forecasting hot and humid weather during the coming days. As of Monday, April 22, the humidity was 53% and the wind speed was 18 km/h.

Despite the city recorded a maximum temperature of 34 degrees Celsius, the weather department has predicted some light rain this week. This development came as there was a very slight shower caused by low clouds at midnight.

However, this week does not appear to have a heatwave like last week, reported skymet weather. With significant humidity, the temperature will hover between 33-34 degrees Celsius this week.

At the Santacruz observatory, there was a hint of precipitation. The highest temperature in the city was 33.8 degrees, which is really close to average. The coastal city had recorded its hottest temperature of the decade in April before. On April 15, 2024, Mumbai reported 37.9°C, which was around 5°C above average and indicated a heat wave.

In the lower levels, a trough line is drawn connecting north Maharashtra to coastal Karnataka and Goa. Additionally, there is a noticeable anticyclonic circulation in the Arabian Sea off the Konkan Coast. Between April 24 and 26, Maharashtra is expected to see sporadic light rainfall due to the combined influence of these systems. The Konkan coastline is the area where these showers are least likely to close in. During that time, there is a chance that some clouds could, at most, overflow Mumbai.

The sea breeze component will continue to blow over the suburbs early in the afternoon due to the trough's proximity and embedded cyclonic circulation. Any sudden increase in daytime temperatures will be suppressed by doing this. It is probable that the land breeze will last until the early afternoon, at which point it will swiftly transition into the sea breeze. Westerly breezes are expected to pick up early, which means there will likely be considerable humidity. Warm and muggy weather will be prevalent this week, as is typical for the city, with highs in the mid-30s and lows near 50%. The weekend of April 26 and 28 is probably when the temperature will start to steadily rise.

Solapur, Akkalkot, Pune, Latur, Mahabaleshwar, Sindhudurg, and Ratnagiri districts received unexpected rains. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts precipitation in certain areas but has forecast that the heat wave will worsen in Mumbai and the Konkan in the coming days this season.
