42 trees have fallen in Mumbai due to heavy rainfall

Weather reports have revealed that 252.2 mm of rainfall was observed in Colaba and 268.6 mm in Santacruz until 8 am on Tuesday, August 4, 2020.

Every year, Monsoon poses a big challenge for the city of Mumbai, and those few months are testing times for Mumbaikars. The city has been experiencing rainfall over the last few months. This month, the situation has been the same, since Monday evening, as torrential rainfall has resulted in several trees and branches falling across the city.

As per reports, so far 42 trees have fallen in Mumbai. Besides this, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has informed that the traffic at 25 places in the city has been diverted with alternative routes due to waterlogging in the low lying areas. Around 27 short circuit incidents have occurred in Mumbai, and have been reported in 16 places in the city. Relief work has been sent to all places on time.

Weather reports have revealed that 252.2 mm of rainfall was observed in Colaba and 268.6 mm in Santacruz until 8 am on Tuesday, August 4, 2020. 

This year, the city is witnessing rainfall amidst the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. Heavy rains were experienced as reported in the forecast by IMD and Skymet.

Flooding was seen from Monday (August 3) evening, in areas like Hindmata, Dadar TT, Sion Road No. 24, Gandhi Market, Sion Road No. 14 Ruia College, SIES College, Samaj Mandir Hall, Pratikshanagar. 

While areas like Andheri Subway, Khar Link, Dahisar Subway, Road, National College Bandra, Veera Desai Road were flooded in the western suburbs, areas like Tembi Bridge, Chembur, Postal Colony Chembur witnessed waterlogging in the eastern suburbs. Officials from the BMC are working to ensure that the water is removed as soon as possible.

Following areas in Mumbai have seen the diversion in traffic, due to the monsoon: Hindmata, Pratikshanagar, Sher Colony-Chembur, Bandra Tankies, Shastrinnagar-Goregaon, Dahisar Subway, SV Road Andheri Market, Khodadad Circle-Dadar, Shital Cinema Bailbazar-Kurla, Vidyavihar Station, Malad Subway, Ashirwad Hotel, Bhau Daji Road, Andheri MIDC-Marol, Vaman Daya Pada, Mulund LBS Marg, Bhendi Bazar, Paral Bridge, Malvani Mhada Colony, Sangam Nagar, Maratha Colony.
