The Pune traffic police handed over multiple fines to India captain Rohit Sharma for overspeeding on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, according to reports from the Pune Mirror. This happened a day before India's clash against Bangladesh which is scheduled on October 19, 2023 at Pune's MCA stadium in the ongoing ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023.

As per the reports from the Pune Mirror, Rohit was handed three traffic tickets for exceeding speed limits on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, reported officials from the traffic department. He breached the 200 kmph limit, and even reached up to 215 kmph at certain times following which his vehicle a Lamborghini Urus was reprimanded with three online traffic challans.

Rohit led India from the front in their three unbeaten matches of the tournament. He has scored 217 runs in three matches in the World Cup campaign, with an impressive average over 72 and a strike-rate of 141.83. Currently, India occupies the second spot in the points table, only behind New Zealand.
