Stating that the 'can do ' spirit of 1.4 billion Indians has been ignited, the King of Bhutan Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck expressed confidence that India will soon become a 5 trillion dollar 3rd largest economy in the world.  


The King of Bhutan was speaking to Maharashtra Governor Ramesh Bais and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis at the State reception accorded to him by the Governor at Raj Bhavan Mumbai on November 7. 


King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck said he is witnessing a new India where all Indians believe that India can achieve anything. The King told the Governor that during a meeting in Japan, the chairman of Mitsubishi, told him that the company had three priorities : Artificial Intelligence, Environmental and Social Governance and India.

King Jigme Khesar Namgyel told the Governor that Ladakh became a popular tourist destination after the film '3 Idiots' was shot there. He expressed the hope that good films will be shot in Bhutan as well.

Stating that Maharashtra is the growth engine of India's economy, the Governor said he would like to see more business cooperation between Bhutan and Maharashtra. The Governor complimented the King of Bhutan for bringing about the transformation of Bhutan and creating new opportunities for the people.  He expressed the hope that a festival of Bhutan would be organised in Mumbai and likewise the festival of Maharashtra should be organised in Bhutan.

Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Speaker of Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Rahul Narwekar, Guardian Minister of Mumbai Deepak Kesarkar, ace Shooter Anjali Bhagwat, cricketer Ajinkya Rahane, Actor Prashant Damle, Industrialist Prakash Hinduja, Ajay Piramal and senior government officials attended the State Banquet.
