The country's largest airline, IndiGo, continued to face disruptions on Thursday as more than 300 domestic and international flights were cancelled from Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and other airports. The company has said that operations at the airport are being hampered due to lack of manpower, and thousands of IndiGo passengers in various cities had to suffer for the third consecutive day.

Along with the cancellation of flights, there were also delays at various airports. IndiGo's flight service is popular among passengers for its punctuality. However, for the past three days, the flight has been disrupted mainly due to insufficient manpower and schedule adjustments.

More than 300 IndiGo flights were cancelled till Thursday afternoon. Delhi airport had the highest number of cancellations at 95, followed by Mumbai at 85. Hyderabad had 70 flights and Bengaluru had 50. Apart from that, flights were also canceled at other airports, resulting in crowded, chaotic, and distressing scenes of passengers everywhere.

Efforts to smooth operations

We are working to smooth IndiGo's operations and restore the schedule, the company's Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Peter Elbers said on Thursday. But this goal is not easy, he said in a message sent to IndiGo employees. He expressed regret that he could not fulfill the promise of providing good service to passengers.

The company was hit

On Wednesday, it was reported that IndiGo's on-time performance, based on data from six major airports - Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Hyderabad, had fallen to 19.7 percent.
