Kalyan-Dombivali: 76 Returnees From High-Risk Countries To Be Traced

Maharashtra’s Kalyan-Dombivali Municipal Corporation (KDMC) has attained a list of 76 people who returned to the city last month from countries that include South Africa and Nigeria wherein multiple cases of the new COVID-19 variant, Omicron has been reported, stated accounts.

Health officials have been asked to trace, track and test all of them, as well as look at their coronavirus tests and vaccination history.

Based on accounts, KDMC’s epidemic officer, Dr Pratibha Panpatil elaborated that on Wednesday evening they attained a list of 76 travellers from the Maharashtra government who returned to Kalyan-Dombivali from countries affected by the Omicron variant.

Adding that the list has been forwarded to their health posts who will undertake the requisite measures. Further Panpatil mentioned that they will be traced, and tests will be done on them and their close contacts.

On the other hand, the RT-PCR and antigen tests were done at the building of the Dombivali based returnee from South Africa who tested positive are all negative. Panpatil remarked that they conducted 23 RT-PCR tests, 14 antigen tests in the building, all of which were negative.

However, the genome-sequencing result of the South Africa returnee is awaited. Moreover, the RT-PCR test of a 50-year-old Dombivali resident who flew with the infected is anticipated.
