Three passengers traveling on Pune-Mumbai Deccan Queen fell while alighting from the running express at Kalyan railway station on Friday. One passenger died while being taken to the hospital while two others were seriously injured, railway officials and railway police said.

The deceased passenger has been identified as Farid Ansari while one of the injured has been identified as Riyaz Ansari. The search for their relatives is on, said the police. Deccan Queen Express does not stop at Kalyan Railway Station. Three passengers who came from Pune in Deccan Queen wanted to disembark in Kalyan. As there was no stop at Kalyan railway station, these young passengers might have planned to alight from the running train when the Deccan Queen slowed down near Kalyan railway station, said a railway official.

As soon as the express slowed down near Kalyan railway station, as planned, these three passengers jumped from the running express into Kalyan railway station. A man fell towards the track and fell under the express. Two persons were seriously injured after falling from the platform while jumping.The passenger who fell under the express was taken to Rukminibai Hospital, where he died on admission. Two other passengers were seriously injured, said a railway official.
