The current remodelling of Panvel Station and extended work without prior notification to commuters have led to a stampede-like rush at Kurla Station during peak hours. Another reason for the chaos is the foot overbridge towards Kalyan End. It is partially open for usage while partially under repair.

According to Mid-Day, the remodelling work at Panvel station has been poorly planned and executed. The lack of timely updates has left commuters of the harbour and trans-harbour route stuck.

This has impacted trans-harbour and harbour services throughout the day. The chaos has even spilled over to other primary changeover points, like Kurla and Thane.

On Tuesday, platforms at the Panvel station were changed without prior notice, adding to the confusion. The previous sequence of 1, 2, 3, and 4 was changed to 3, 2, and 1, with one platform being demolished. Even though people started to experience inconvenience in the morning, CR didn't let the public know about this until after 5 o'clock on social media accounts.

Two new rail tracks have been added to Panvel Station for the Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC). Construction work on the elevated harbour station has started but is stalled because of issues with land acquisition. Other bridges are stagnating until the elevated station construction is finished. The floor of the bridge's narrow end has been taken out and replaced with tin sheets. This has become another reason for inconvenience for passengers.

Divisional railway officials have promised to deploy RPF and staff to manage the crowd. Despite the ongoing issues, railway management has yet to resolve the problem, causing annoyance to passengers.

According to a survey by Mumbai Railway Vikas Corporation, Kurla station is used daily by at least 3,80,030 people. This is one of the highest footfalls in stations in Mumbai.
