In another grievous incident, a four-year-old boy died and other five persons injured after a house collapsed on Saturday evening, March 26 in Mumbai’s Kandivali area.

The incident took place around 4 pm as a ground-plus-one storey house collapsed at KD Compound behind Shimpoli Tower in the Lalji Pada area, Kandivali (West).

The deceased have been identified as Naushad Ali. The injured included two women and one infant, identified as three-month-old Dilshad Shah, Shahidunissa Rain, 30, and Mohmmad Ansar, 16, Hasina Shah, 22 and Prema Yadav, 38.

Three injured were admitted to the civic-run Shatabdi Hospital immediately, while two were admitted to the private Trident Hospital. The infant has been admitted to Children’s Hospital in Malad. Their condition is said to be stable.

The deceased was severely injured; however, on reaching the hospital, doctor informed the kid was dead.

The structure gave way when a BMC contractor was undertaking road drainage work in front of the single-storeyed house. The fire brigade and the police rushed to the spot.

As per reports, the civic officials stated that the building collapsed as construction was substandard. They attributed this to the negligence of contractor.
