Amid rising concerns of Omicron variant, the Center on Tuesday, December 14, made it mandatory for travellers from 'at-risk' countries to pre-book their RT-PCR tests.

In a notification, the Ministry of Civil Aviation said that all international passengers from countries of concerns, including those arriving at airports in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad, must pre-book the RT-PCR test.

According to the Ministry of Health, European nations, including the UK, are at risk. Moreover, the list includes South Africa, Brazil, Botswana, China, Ghana, Mauritius, New Zealand, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Hong Kong and Israel.

Mumbai International Airport has set up 100 registration counters and 60 sampling booths, including 100 Rapid PCR machines.

Here’s how you can book slots for RT-PCR:

Visit www.newdelhiairport.in or any airport website where the passengers plans to visit. Then on the top panel find 'Book COVID-19 Test'.

Next, select the type of travel (in case of international arrival).

Fill in all personal details like name, email id, mobile number, Aadhar card / passport number, address, date of appointment, time slot etc.

After entering all the details, select the type of test (in this case, RT-PCR, Rapid PCR test is also available.)

Follow the on-screen instructions and book a slot for your RT-PCR test upon arrival at the airport.

In the former case, the test results will be available in 6-8 hours, while the latter is only 30 minutes to one and a half hours.

The testing facility is available for everyone traveling to or via IGI Airport.

In addition, passengers have the option to reschedule their appointment or cancel the booking altogether.
