As part of the Maharashtra Government’s Lek Ladki Scheme, a total of 3,563 beneficiaries in Mumbai will receive financial assistance aimed at promoting girls’ education and empowerment. Of these, 671 beneficiaries are from Mumbai City, while 2,892 are from Mumbai Suburban.

The scheme provides financial assistance to eligible girls at different stages, from birth to adulthood. Under the scheme, a girl can receive a total of ₹1,01,000 in installments, subject to the prescribed eligibility conditions.

What is the Lek Ladki Scheme?

The Lek Ladki Scheme was implemented across Maharashtra from April 1, 2023, replacing the Meri Beti Bhagyashree (Revised) Scheme. It is aimed at supporting girls from economically disadvantaged families through financial assistance linked to important stages of their education and development.

Lek Ladki Scheme Benefits

Under the scheme, an eligible girl can receive a total financial assistance of ₹1,01,000 in different stages.

Lek Ladki Scheme Eligibility

To receive benefits under the Lek Ladki Scheme, the following conditions apply:

  • The girl must be born on or after April 1, 2023.
  • The beneficiary family must be a resident of Maharashtra.
  • The family must hold a yellow or orange ration card.
  • The family's annual income must not exceed ₹1 lakh.
  • Benefits are available for up to two girls born on or after April 1, 2023.
  • If a family has one boy and one girl, the girl can also be eligible for the scheme, subject to the other conditions.
  • To receive the final installment of ₹75,000, the girl must have completed 18 years of age and remain unmarried.

Family Planning Certificate Requirement

A family planning certificate is required in specified cases when claiming benefits under the scheme.

The certificate is required when applying for the third installment for the first child or the second installment for the second child, as applicable under the scheme.

Applicants should ensure that all required documents are available before applying for the relevant installment.
