Traffic resumes on Lalbaug flyover

Traffic resumes on Lalbaug flyover
SHARES

Lalbaug- Traffic has resumed on the lalbaug flyover after it was closed early morning due to cracks on  a particular stretch.

The south bound CST-Dadar traffic is opened in single lane and the norht bound Dadar-CST traffic is stable on both the lanes.Earlier both the lanes on the flyover are closed for vehicles and commuters were stuck in the jam for over 2 hours. This is the second incident in the last four months when traffic was halted as the crucial connector of the flyover developed cracks.
Barely five years after it was constructed, joints on the 2.48 km Lalbaug flyover developed cracked, leading to a 200mm wide gap. This raises a serious question on the contruction quality and periodic maintenance of the flyover. With the BMC polls round the corner, this could become a major poll issue for local residents.
