Traffic on the Pune-to-Mumbai carriageway of the MumbaiPune Expressway's newly inaugurated Missing Link was diverted early Monday after a landslide triggered by heavy rainfall struck near the exit of Tunnel 2. Authorities said debris clearance is expected to take around five to six hours, while vehicles are being rerouted through the Mumbai-to-Pune tunnel.

The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) launched immediate clearance operations and evacuated vehicles stranded on the affected stretch. Commuters have been advised to avoid non-essential travel until the route is reopened.

MSRDC Managing Director Anilkumar Gaikwad dismissed reports claiming that the Missing Link's road slab had collapsed. He clarified that the project's main structure remains intact and that the incident was caused by rocks and debris falling from the adjoining hillside, damaging a protective structure near the tunnel exit.

No injuries or casualties were reported, as no vehicles were passing through the affected section when the landslide occurred. Officials said traffic will be restored once the debris is cleared and the route is declared safe for commuters.
