Leopard returns to haunt Aarey residents

In a fresh incident, a leopard has been seen stalking a stray dog near an apartment within the Royal Palms housing complex in Goregaon.

In CCTV footage obtained, the cat is seen following a stray dog at the Piccadilly 2 building situated in the Royal Palms Complex at night. The watchman on duty told Mumbai Live that he spotted the leopard making several attempts to catch hold of the dog.

“The leopard has visited the vicinity quite a few times, and tried to attack me as well but it got scared and ran away because I always carry a stick with me. But the leopard has terrorised the residents by visiting the vicinity often, either in search of prey or water. I am now scared of performing my duty. The residents have suggested that we remove all the open water sources from the ground floor.”

On 21 March, a five-year-old boy was attacked by a leopard at Goregaon’s Aarey Colony’s unit number 18. The boy got away with minor injuries when neighbours and family intervened and saved him, hearing his cries for help.
