Maharashtra might again face an acute shortage of coronavirus vaccines as the state is left with nearly six lakh doses of the vaccine, which can sustain the drive for barely three days. Meanwhile, Mumbai barely has 70,000 vaccine doses left.

Moreover, it has come to light that Maharashtra is will receive merely 50,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine from the Centre in three days.

According to details released by the Union health ministry on Sunday, May 16, states and union territories are supposed to receive nearly a total of 51 lakh doses in the next three days.

Of which, Maharashtra, which has only 6.85 lakh doses, is to get 50,000 doses. Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Delhi and Haryana are listed to received 3.92 lakh, 4.22 lakh, 1.73 lakh and lakh doses, respectively.

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh, which already has a balance of 18.59 lakh doses, is scheduled to receive six lakh doses. Madhya Pradesh, too, which has 9.86 lakh doses, is slated to receive 5.26 lakh doses.

The chart uploaded by the Centre shows that even Andhra Pradesh is to receive 50,000 doses when it has 11.55 lakh balance doses. Punjab, West Bengal, Assam and Chandigarh are all receiving in the range of 50,000 to 75,000 doses.

Recently, the state government suspended the vaccination of 18-44 years age group, which begin on May 1, due to a shortage of vials across Maharashtra.
