Deputy Chief Minister and Energy Minister Devendra Fadnavis informed that the basic salary of the officers and employees of three companies under Electricity department -- Maharashtra State Power Generation Company Limited, Maharashtra State Power Distribution Company Limited, and Maharashtra State Power Transmission Company Limited -- will be hiked by 19 per cent. Additionally, all their allowances will be hiked by 25 per cent.

This decision was announced after a meeting held on Sunday, July 7, at the Government Sahyadri Guest House in Mumbai.

Apart from this, hike of INR 500 for probationary period and allowance of INR 500 for technical staff has now been raised to INR 1,000.

It is pertinent to note that unions had often raised the demand for pay hikes and allowances and regulatisation of contract workers on behalf of all three holding utilities under the energy department. However, this comes ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections.

In this meeting, Additional Chief Secretary of Energy Department Abha Shukla, Chairman and Managing Director of Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Lokesh Chandra, Chairman and Managing Director of Maharashtra State Electricity Generation Company Dr. P. Dr. Ambalgan, Chairman and Managing Director, Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company. Sanjeev Kumar, senior officers and employees of the three companies and officials of the organizations were present.
