Coronavirus cases in the state of Maharashtra are increasing significantly, and the state government has imposed strict guidelines and norms across several districts. However, to curb the spread of virus, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray said that lockdown would be an option to control the rising cases and people will have to follow the guidelines.

The statement was made on Friday, March 19, 2021, a day after the state recorded a total of 25,833 cases. While addressing the media in Nandurbar district, CM stated that the citizens should consider getting vaccinated as it would help them with immunity and keep their fear away.

The number of cases have started increasing over the last few weeks, and the state on Thursday, March 18, 2021, recorded the highest case since September.

Adding more, the CM said that the officials are thinking about a lockdown in the state as it is one of the options in the future, however, he trusts that the citizens will cooperate and support the government by following the norms like it was done previously. Back then, the country did not have any other means to control the spread, however, the vaccine is available now and it is a ray of hope. 

Keeping the same in mind, everyone should consider making it a priority and get vaccinated. 

Furthermore, the state government is also working towards making sure the vaccines are available and there is no shortage. He also said that the people should not fear reinfection post vaccination as such cases are rare and do not threaten the life. 

On the other hand, the government has decided to impose strict guidelines until March 31, 2021, whereby offices will work at 50 per cent capacity. Meanwhile, Hotels, bars, restaurants, theatres and cinema halls will also be functioning at 50 per cent capacity. Use of halls for political and other gatherings is prohibited. Wearing a mask in public is mandatory at all times and COVID-19 test report is mandatory which visiting malls in Mumbai.
