Maharashtra's COVID-19 recovery rate reaches at 94 per cent

Maharashtra reported 4,304 new COVID-19 cases, 4,678 recoveries and 95 deaths on Wednesday (December 16), taking the total number of cases in the state to 18,80,893. There are 61,454 active cases in the state and 17,69,897 patients have recovered so far. The death toll is at 48,434 in Maharashtra. As the number of COVID cases are decreasing in the state, the state has the highest recovery rate of about 94.1 per cent which is a good sign. In total 1,18,71,449 people have been tested in Maharashtra.

Mumbai reported 795 new COVID-19 cases, 751 recoveries and 12 deaths on Wednesday (December 16), taking the total number of cases in the financial capital to 2,84,404. According to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) data, there are 69,58 active cases and 26,56,02 patients have completely recovered so far. The death toll is at 11,007 in the city. The recovery rate stands at 93 per cent. At present 21,34,006 tests have been conducted by the BMC. There are 391 contaminated zones in slums and chawls while 4,444 buildings are sealed by the BMC.

Meanwhile, India reported 24,010 new COVID-19 cases, 33,291 recoveries and 355 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the tally up to 99,56,558 according to the data by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Wednesday (December 16). While in total 94,89,740 have completely recovered. The death toll is at 1,44,451 in the country. At present, there are 3,22,366 active cases. According to the ICMR, 15,78,05,240 samples have been tested up to December 16.
