On Wednesday, December 1, Maharashtra Health Minister, Rajesh Tope mentioned that the state government has issued a notification highlighting that fully-vaccinated local domestic passengers can travel without an RT-PCR test, reported news agency ANI.

However, if the passenger’s travel history of the last 10-15 days depicts a visit to Omicron affected regions, they can only leave after a negative RT-PCR report, post a week of quarantine.

Additionally, the Maharashtra government put out a notification stating that international passengers from at-risk countries could be deplaned on priority and different counters will be made by the MIAL and the Airport Authority for their verification.

Apart from this, they will also have to undergo compulsory 7-day institutional quarantine and RT-PCR tests will be conducted on the second, fourth and seventh day for them. If their tests are found positive, they will be moved to a hospital. If their tests are negative, they will have to undertake seven days of home quarantine.

In light of this notification made by the state government, on Wednesday, the Union Health Secretary wrote to the Maharashtra Additional Chief Secretary to “align the orders issued by the state for international arrivals at the Mumbai Airport with the norms proclaimed by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare”. They have been asked to do so to ensure a uniform implementation of guidelines across India.
