Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde recently held a meeting with collectors, superintendents of police, and top members of the Indian army, navy, and coast guard. The meeting focused on developing strategies to handle the upcoming monsoon season effectively. Directives were given to ensure preparedness for any potential challenges that may arise during the monsoon, such as heavy rainfall, flooding, or landslides.

In addition to these measures, 18 National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams, 7 State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams, 10 Indian Navy squadrons, 6 Coast Guard squads, and 70 planes on stand by from Air Force are also prepared to deal with any disaster that may occur due to monsoon.

City officials will be on high alert 24x7 during the season to closely monitor the progress. They will use modern technology and digital mapping for it. They will also have real-time access to data and updates on road conditions with the help of CCTV cameras. Approximately 6,000 cameras will be installed across the city. These cameras will enable continuous surveillance, monitoring road conditions, and identifying any potential risks or obstructions.

Moreover, the government has taken steps to address the issue of abandoned buildings. Out of the 236 buildings identified as abandoned, 27 have already been cleared out. The government's focus is on disaster-prone areas. Special guidelines have been provided to address the specific challenges faced by disaster-prone regions.

Besides, the state government has appointed two representatives in each ward who will be responsible for poor roads and addressing the seasonal potholes in an attempt to restore the road conditions in Maharashtra ahead of the monsoon.
