Maharashtra govt. requests Centre to ink vaccine-takers

Maharashtra Health Minister on Friday, January 8, has said that the department has requested the Centre to allow the use of indelible ink on the fingers as a mark of identification to those who have received the vaccine.

The minister also said that the state government has demanded that the vaccine be available for free to the people below the poverty line.

Meanwhile, on Friday, January, the dry run was conducted across 144 locations in the state ahead of the vaccination roll out. The dry run was carried out across 23 district hospitals, 30 sub-district and rural hospitals and 32 primary health centers as well as 29 urban health centers, municipal hospitals in municipal corporations.

In Mumbai, the vaccine dry run was organised at three places Rajawadi, BKC and Cooper Hospital.

Tope also said that the final decision on when to launch the vaccination campaign in the state would be taken by the chief minister and deputy chief minister once the Central government announces the date of vaccination roll out and the supply of vaccine.
