According to latest data revealed by the state health department, Maharashtra reported a slight rise in cases and fatalities for the second day in a row. The state on Wednesday, October 27, recorded 1,485 cases and 38 deaths.

The daily positivity rate has been hovering around 1% and has not risen sharply, he added. However, yesterday, the test positivity rate was 1%.

In addition, the parameters to gauge the spread of the novel coronavirus in Maharashtra too have reported a drop. The weekly positivity rate of Maharashtra has dropped to 1.45% and there are eight districts in the state which have a higher positivity rate.

Over 92% of the active cases are concentrated in just 10 districts in Maharashtra. Of all, Pune district has the highest positivity rate with 30 per cent. Other districts in Maharashtra -- Sindhudurg, Pune and Palghar -- have a positivity rate of over 2%.

Also, there are 20 districts in Maharashtra which have less than 100 active coronavirus patients.

Meanwhile, Mumbai ‘s daily caseload jumped beyond 400 once again on Wednesday after two days of staying below 300.

The BMC officials said that the daily tally usually shoots up on Wednesdays after registering a steep drop earlier in the week. The city also sees a steady number of cases daily, while the infections in the rest of the state have been dropping, said civic officials.
