This mango is available for retail sale in Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Delhi etc. It is estimated that Malawi Hapoos will retail at INR 3,000 to INR 5,000 per box and Tommy Atkins at INR 3,000 per box.


Every year in the first week of November, Malawi Hapus arrives in Mumbai. This year, the mango season in Malawi has been prolonged and the production has also decreased.

As a result, the importation of Malawi Hapus has been delayed by three weeks. Now till December regular arrival will continue. About seven thousand boxes are expected to arrive every week. Malawi mango is native to Devgad Hapus. About twelve years ago, graftable small branches of Hapus mangoes were sent to Malawi for grafting from Ratnagiri. They were grafted and planted in about 26 acres of land.


After further expansion, mangoes have been planted on about a thousand hectares in the country of Malawi. This mango is called Malawi Hapus. Malawi Hapu's mangoes were first introduced to the Vashi market in 2018 with 40 tonnes of mangoes. Pansare also said that the arrival of Malawi Hapus mangoes has continued continuously since then.
