On Thursday, the police have said that a man with two others has been arrested for supposedly calling the officials from the Maharashtra Home Department about issues in regards to transfer while pretending to be Sharad Pawar the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), reported the PTI.

Mantralaya’s Home Department officials doubted that someone was imitating Pawar’s voice on the phone and thus, alarmed the police.

Based on the report, a police official stated that a case was registered on Wednesday night under the IPC Section 419, which is cheating by personation.

Another investigation for the same was also launched by the Anti Extortion Cell (AEC) of the Mumbai crime branch. The police official stated that the main accused with two of his accomplices was arrested, cited the report.

According to the investigation, the man utilized a call-spoofing app that enables voice change, the official mentioned.

Currently, NCP is part of the ruling coalition government in Maharashtra.
