Recently BMC had partly demolished Actor Kangana Ranaut’s office citing reasons of illegal construction. On the same day, the civic body had also cornered Manish Malhotra, the fashion designer, for turning his house into a commercial space and not acquiring the due permission for it. Another interesting point to note is that Manish Malhotra's house is next to Kangana's office.
Moreover, the BMC stated that there were multiple illegal constructions on the site. As per the notice issued under Section 351 (unauthorized construction) of the Mumbai Municipal Corporation Act, there are four violations in the Malhotra office operating out of bungalow 6, 41 on Nargis Dutt Road at Pali Hill.
The four violations happen to be an unauthorized change of residential use to commercial use on the first floor, unauthorized erections of partitions in the first floor, unauthorized construction of brick masonry wall and a cement sheet roof on the second-floor terrace and unauthorized construction of a shed with steel angles and a cement sheet roof on the same terrace.
Earlier on Tuesday, the civic body issued a 'stop work notice' to actress Kangana Ranaut under section 354(A) of the Mumbai Municipal Corporation Act and told the actor to produce permission within 24 hours. On the next day, BMC officials stuck a fresh notice at her office stating that the structure will be demolished. The BMC then partially demolished the building before Ranaut's lawyer moved the HC, which gave her interim relief from the demolition process.
