There was an explosion which was caused due to reactors at Varsha Organic Pvt. Ltd. which is located in plot 154 in Tarapur's MIDC, Boisar. The explosion occurred at 12:30 am on May 27 which left two workers with severe burn injuries while other eight workers escaped as the fire had engulfed the premises.

Workers in the neighbouring factories also vacated the premises and the witnesses have stated that the explosion could be heard around the radius of 5 kilometres. The ambulance didn't reach on time, therefore, the injured were admitted to Thunga hospital with the help of Police vehicle and the Fire Brigade vehicle.
Notably, on May 13, three people were killed due to a chemical leak in MIDC.
