A massive fire broke out at a power loom factory in Khoka compound in Bhiwandi. As there was a large stock of clothes lying in the factory it escalated quite quickly. The fire broke out in wee hours of the morning.
As soon as the fire started, people living nearby started getting jittery and they even tried to manage the fire on their own by throwing buckets of water. However, they were unable to get things in control by themselves. The citizens immediately reported to the fire brigade. Three fire-fighters arrived at the spot and extinguished the blaze. It took the fire department four hours to get this fire under control.
The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. It is believed that the fire started due to a short circuit. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported so far. There was a lot of chaos when the fire started as there is a residential area next to the factory. Citizens are being relocated as a precautionary measure.
