Homebuyers in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) will soon get another opportunity to purchase affordable homes through the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority’s (MHADA) Konkan Board.
The Konkan Board is preparing to hold a lottery for around 1,000 homes, with the draw likely to be conducted in November. The upcoming lottery will include around 550 homes under the 20 per cent inclusive housing scheme and approximately 450 homes under the MHADA housing scheme at Chitalsar-Manpada in Thane.
The 550 homes under the 20 per cent scheme will be located across Thane, Kalyan-Dombivli, Vasai-Virar and Navi Mumbai. The apartments will range from 323 to 431 sq ft, with prices expected to be between Rs 15 lakh and Rs 25 lakh.
The Chitalsar-Manpada project will have around 450 homes, also ranging from 323 to 431 sq ft. These houses are expected to be priced at around Rs 42 lakh.
The Konkan Board has already begun preparations for the lottery advertisement. According to board officials, the advertisement is expected to be released within a month, following which registration and the application process will begin. The lottery is likely to be held by the end of November.
The upcoming draw will also be significant because it is expected to be the last MHADA Konkan Board lottery for homes under the 20 per cent inclusive housing scheme in the MMR.
The state government has transferred the implementation of the scheme from MHADA to municipal corporations. However, homes that became available with MHADA before August 12 can still be allotted through the authority’s lottery process.
With around 1,000 affordable homes on offer, prospective applicants have been advised to start preparing the required documents ahead of the registration process.
The lottery could provide a major opportunity for middle- and lower-income homebuyers looking for relatively affordable housing in the MMR.
