On Wednesday, September 1, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rains in parts of Mumbai, Thane, Palghar.

Moreover, Mumbai is expected to witness a high tide of 2.78 meters and a low tide of 2.52 meters at 2 pm today. According to sources, Santa Cruz received 78.4 mm of rain between 8.30 am and 5.30 pm and Colaba received 32.6 mm of rain earlier on Tuesday. Meanwhile, from 8.30 am on Monday to 8.30 am on Tuesday, 49 mm of rain was recorded in Santa Cruz and 29.8 mm in Colaba. In addition, the heavy rains had intensified overnight after moderate rains on Monday.

On the other hand, as per officials, at least 250 people in Chalisgaon in Jalgaon district have been shifted to safer places, while hundreds of cattle are feared washed away in the floodwater. Meanwhile, the landslide in Kannad-Chalisgaon ghat has resulted in the closure of the Dhule-Aurangabad highway.

According to reports, river Girna’s water level rose significantly affecting five villages in Chalisgaon in Jalgaon. As a result of the severe rainfall, many houses were submerged, forcing the district administration to shift 250 people from more than 50 families to a safer place. Meanwhile, a team of State Disaster Response Force has been deployed for rescue and relief operations.
