As the city reels with an acute shortage of coronavirus vaccines, huge crowds gathered outside vaccination centres in Mumbai on Wednesday, May 5. Beneficiaries stood under the scorching sun for hours to receive the jab, and some of them had to return back disappointed due to limited vaccine stocks.
In an initiative to provide relief to people standing in the long queues, the Ram Roti Group offered free drinking water and biscuits to the people who were waiting in queue outside Kandivali's Shatabdi Hospital for COVID-19 vaccine.
Last year, during the first wave of coronavirus pandemic, they organized a number of activities owing to the Covid-19 pandemic and provided relief to a number of needy people, especially migrant labourers in Mumbai, Maharashtra and nearby areas. In this regard, the Trust distributed more than 8000 kits containing essential items, to affected persons. Among those who benefit directly from the Trust’s activities are daily wage earners, rickshaw-pullers and taxi drivers.
They also served thousands of food packages every day since the lockdown in 2020. Needy people in Mumbai and nearby areas continue to receive the compassionate care of the Jalaram Ram Roti Bhandar Trust.
Shree Jay Jalaram Ram Roti Bhandar Trust (SJJRRBT), a social work organization, which is dedicated to the poor and needy sections of society since its inception in 1973. The Trust is run under the tutelage of Shree Jalaram Bappa temple at Kandivali Station, Mumbai, and has been a source of comfort for all the needy people in Mumbai. Another wing of the temple is known as “Narsingh Group”, which also works in the same direction.
