Western Railway (WR) have been conducting regular ticket checking drives to keep a check on unauthorised travelling.

Mumbai Division of WR has accomplished a remarkable feat by recovering INR 8.23 crore in fines with the detection of 1.3 lakh cases during such checking drives conducted in the month of April 2023.

In recognition to the performance of the ticket checking staff, Niraj Verma, Divisional Railway Manager of Mumbai Central Division felicitated the best earners from the cadre for their efforts as well as to boost their morale. Senior Divisional Commercial Manager and other Senior Officers of the Division were also present on this occasion.

According to a press release issued by Sumit Thakur, Chief Public Relations Officer of WR, 125 ticket checking staff of WR’s Mumbai Division were felicitated in recognition of their outstanding performance. In addition to these, three more Checking staff who displayed exemplary work were also felicitated. Jill Shinto and Snehal Palekar working as Dy. Chief Ticketing Inspector (Dy. CTI) were instrumental in detecting the fraud of forged AC local tickets. Due to their vigilant nature, WR was able to detect the deceit and apprehend the culprit who was engaged in such fraudulent activity.

Besides, Ticket Checking activities, the Checking Staff also serve passengers humanely with their noble gestures. They provide assistance to the passengers by arranging for instant medical help, helping the passengers to recover their lost valuable items during travelling and in finding missing children, etc.

Western Railway appeals to the general public to travel with proper & valid tickets through manual ticket counters and from digital o­nline tickets through UTS app, ATVM machines, etc.
