According to the System of Air Quality Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR), the air quality index (AQI) of Mumbai has reportedly been in the moderate range in the month of May.

Moreover, SAFAR categorizes AQI levels for PM2.5 in the 0-50 range as good; 51-100 as satisfactory; 101-200 as moderate; 201-300 as poor; 301-400 as very poor and above 400 as severe.

On Tuesday, May 11, Mumbai recorded an AQI of 64. In addition, the air quality was reportedly good at Borivali, Bhandup, Chembur on Tuesday. However, the ozone index was not recorded at Borivali, Chembur.

On the other hand, earlier on Sunday, May 9, hot and humid weather conditions were reported in Mumbai. Moreover, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted cloudy skies for the coming week along with dry weather conditions.

According to reports, on Sunday, the relative humidity recorded by IMD Colaba and Santacruz observatories was 89 per cent and 65 per cent respectively. Meanwhile, the maximum temperature recorded at Colaba was 34.6 degrees while at Santacruz it was 34.4 degrees. It was slightly higher than a day earlier when Colaba recorded 33.8 degrees and Santacruz recorded 34.2 degrees.

Furthermore, India may soon experience its first cyclone of 2021, with officials predicting the formation of a low-pressure area over the southeast Arabian Sea later this week. The IMD on Tuesday took to Twitter with a forecast that a cyclonic storm may form by Sunday. According to reports, this storm would be named cyclone Tauktae.
