Since the last two days, Mumbai's air quality has been getting worse and its effect is mostly visible in Colaba, Worli, Bandra-Kurla Complex. The air quality is deteriorating significantly due to dry weather. This air pollution is likely to increase further in the coming times, especially during festivals like Diwali.

'Respirator Living Science' and 'Climate Trends' studied the period from October to March for the year 2019 to 2023. The air quality of Mumbai has become very bad during this period. This is a continuous decline and in comparison the quality of Delhi and Lucknow has improved. The study was conducted on the basis of PM 2.5 pollution levels recorded throughout the last year under the 'National Clean Air Programme' and between October and March.


The National Clean Air Program was implemented in six important cities of the country. These included the cities of Delhi, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Lucknow and Patna along with Mumbai. The study revealed that Delhi still tops the pollution list. However, Delhi's air quality was found to be gradually improving between October 1, 2022, and September 30, 2023. Patna city is at second place in this list.
