The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is implementing the ambitious Goregaon–Mulund Link Road (GMLR) project in Mumbai. To rehabilitate citizens affected by this road development project, the civic body is constructing residential buildings at Kanjur West under the Brihanmumbai Project Affected Persons Housing Scheme.
Under this initiative, 906 housing units are being built across seven buildings on a plot measuring approximately 10,050 square metres. The construction work is currently in progress.
Recently, Abhijit Bangar, Additional Municipal Commissioner (Projects), visited the site to inspect the ongoing work. During the visit, he closely reviewed the internal structure of the apartments, as well as facilities such as water supply, sanitation, electricity, elevators (lifts), staircases, and fire-safety systems. He expressed satisfaction with the overall progress and the quality of the work.
Out of the seven buildings, two are in the final stage of construction. Bangar directed officials to rehabilitate 252 project-affected families by the end of March 2026. He also instructed that the remaining apartments should be completed within the scheduled timeline so they can be handed over to affected residents as soon as possible.
He further directed that all required amenities and infrastructure at the project site should be provided without delay.
During the inspection, Ramchandra Kadam, Municipal Engineer, and Rajesh Mule, Chief Engineer (Bridges), along with other concerned officials, were also present.
