The BMC has removed 64 constructions obstructing road widening at Bhattipada Chowk in Bhandup. These constructions were obstructing the junction of Khot Marg, Gaondevi Marg, Jangal Mangal Marg and Bhattipada Marg at Bhattipada Junction. The removal of these 40-year-old structures has paved the way for road widening. 

The widening of Bhattipada Junction Chowk will provide relief to the residents of Tembipada, Gaondevi, Anthony Church, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Lake. Residents of this area were facing traffic jams to reach Bhandup and Nahur railway stations.

Now, due to the eviction action, the way has been cleared for the widening of Gaondevi Nala in the Brihanmumbai Storm Water Disposal System project. Assistant Commissioner of S Division, Mahadev Shinde informed that the trees which are a hindrance for this development have also been cut with proper permission. The narrow road at Bhattipada junction in the S section was causing massive traffic jams.

The work of widening this square was taken up through S Division. 1 poclain, 3 JCB, 6 dumpers, 10 officers and 49 workers were deployed for this operation. Police security was also provided by Bhandup Police. Officers and staff also participated in this along with the engineer team.
