Under the guidance of Municipal Commissioner Ashwini Bhide, an eviction drive was carried out in several parts of Mulund on Wednesday.
In Mulund West, civic officials took action along Ram Ratan Trivedi Marg, Jawaharlal Nehru Marg, Sevaram Lalwani Marg, Ratanji Hirji Bhograj Marg, Jhaver Marg and Ganesh Gawde Marg. Action was also taken in Mulund East along Lokmanya Tilak Marg and in the Navghar Road area.
During the drive, the BMC removed 40 temporary monsoon shelters, eight unauthorised shops and 30 hawkers occupying or obstructing footpaths.
Civic officials also took action against six carriageway obstructions that were affecting pedestrian movement. Materials found obstructing the footpaths were seized during the operation.
The BMC said such enforcement drives are aimed at ensuring that pedestrians have clear and obstruction-free access to footpaths across the city.
