Mumbai’s newly elected municipal corporation will hold its first general body meeting on February 16, 2026, following the announcement of the Mayor and Deputy Mayor on February 11.

Ritu Tawde from the BJP has filed her nomination for Mayor, while Sanjay Ghadi from the Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) is the candidate for Deputy Mayor. With no opposition nominations, both are expected to be elected unopposed.

The February 16 meeting will also confirm key positions such as Leader of the House and Leader of the Opposition, and will announce corporators selected for standing committees. These committees play a crucial role in overseeing the city’s administrative and developmental work.

With these formalities completed, the Mumbai Municipal Corporation will officially begin its work for the new term.
