The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will soon establish a dedicated coastal committee to help prevent marine pollution and protect Mumbai’s coastline.
The proposal was approved after an extensive discussion among corporators from different political parties. The move is aimed at strengthening measures to protect the city’s coastal areas and address growing concerns over water and marine pollution.
The committee is expected to examine issues affecting Mumbai’s coastline, coordinate with relevant civic authorities and recommend measures for the conservation and sustainable management of coastal areas.
The decision comes amid increasing concerns over pollution in Mumbai’s coastal waters. The proposed committee is expected to provide a focused platform for addressing environmental issues and improving coordination between various civic departments.
