Reservoirs have been constructed at various places in Mumbai to supply water to Mumbaikars and keeping in mind the safety of five reservoirs in the western suburbs, CCTV cameras will be installed in the area. CCTV cameras will be installed in the area of five reservoirs in the Bandra-Jogeshwari area and the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will spend INR 93 lakh for this.


As many as 27 service reservoirs (reservoirs) have been constructed in Mumbai to supply water to the whole of Mumbai. The treated water from the water treatment plant is stored in the Mahasantulan reservoir near the water treatment plant. Then it is divided for further distribution to 27 service reservoirs located in the city. Water is delivered from Sewa Reservoir to consumers in various areas through about 360,000 water connections. Out of these 27 reservoirs, CCTV cameras will be installed on five reservoirs built to supply water to the area between Bandra and Jogeshwari

This decision has been taken by the water engineer department to strengthen the security system of five reservoirs namely Veravali hill reservoir number 1, 2, 3 and Veravali high level reservoir, Pali hill reservoir. The spot test report given by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Security) had indicated the installation of CCTV cameras.  This will increase the security of the reservoir and prevent theft and other untoward incidents. The Water Engineer Department of the Municipal Corporation has sent such a proposal to the Commissioner for approval. INR 93 lakh rupees will be spent for this work including a contract of INR 79 lakhs and goods and services tax of INR 14 lakhs.
