Mumbai: Building collapses in Chembur, one dead

One person has died after a building collapsed in Chembur’s Thakkar Bappa Colony on Thursday. It is learnt that more than four people have been injured in the incident and have been rushed to the Rajawadi Hospital. 

The structure which collapsed is a double-storey building (ground plus one) and the incident happened during the repair work. According to media reports, the firefighters and police have reached the spot and have started the rescue operation. 

This is a developing story. 

Earlier, a portion of the rampart on the BG Kher Road, near the hanging gardens, collapsed, blocking the road. Approximately 15 trees were uprooted on the hillside. Moreover, roads in the area were closed.

As per reports, the road from the Hanging Gardens to Camps Corner Traffic Signal will be closed for 3 months in order for the repair work to take place. In addition, the bridge from Campus Corner to Pedder Road was also closed.
