Government announces Diwali bonus for BMC and BEST employees

A meeting was held on Thursday at the Sahyadri State Guest House, chaired by the Chief Minister, to discuss matters regarding the bonus of Class IV employees of the civic body.

The state government of Maharashtra, in a recently shared announcement, confirmed Diwali bonus for the employees of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), teachers of the Municipal Corporation, and the employees of BEST

As per reports, a sum of INR 22,500 will be given to all these employees and one month's salary to health workers as Diwali bonus. Confirmation regarding the same was given by State Chief Minister Eknath Shinde who announced this on Thursday., September 29, 2022.

A meeting was held on Thursday at the Sahyadri State Guest House, chaired by the Chief Minister, to discuss matters regarding the bonus of Class IV employees of the civic body. Talks were also held about the same for teachers and non-teaching staff of aided schools. After thorough consideration, the diwali bonus for the employees was decided in this meeting.

Sharing more details, CM Eknath Shinde said that the employees from the BMC have done a good job in the difficult situation of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Doctors along with all other staff associated with the BMC have played a vital role in keeping the COVID-19 situation in Mumbai under control. He added that while the amount needs to be spent on several development works, those who have contributed to the society should certainly be encouraged and this is important to maintain the balance between the development work and the welfare schemes of our employees. 

The employees and the citizens are our responsibility. While announcing the Diwali bonus, he alsso asked the officials to celebrate Diwali with joy. Assurance was given stating that the obstacles related to development works and employees related to the BMC will be resolved on priority basis. Everyone should now work wholeheartedly for Mumbaikars and  engineers should ensure that the works of roads and infrastructure are of high quality as per the wishes made by the citizens.

Besides the CM, the meeting was also attended by MP Rahul Shewale, Commissioner and Administrator of BMC Dr. IS Chahal, Additional Commissioner Ashwini Bhide, former MLA Kiran Pavaskar, office bearers of various employee associations of the corporation, Sandeep Deshpande, Shashank Rao, Santosh Dhuri, Uttam Gade, Ashok Jadhav and other officials of various departments.
