COVID-19: Mumbai's New Cases At 3-Month High, Maharashtra Sees 81-Day Jump

According to the latest reports, Maharashtra logged an 81-day high in new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, May 25. At the same time, Mumbai recorded its highest single-day detection in 102 days. 

While Maharashtra registered 470 coronavirus cases, Mumbai logged 295 cases. With this, there was a 39 per cent and 35 per cent rise in numbers respectively on Wednesday in contrast to the previous day. 

Based on accounts, nearly 80 per cent of the new cases in Maharashtra were seen from the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. Likewise, for the second day in a row, Mumbai witnessed hospitalisations in double digits at 12. 

It has been reported that Mumbai was the highest contributor of cases, Thane registered 27 new coronavirus cases, Navi Mumbai saw 22 cases, and Panvel recorded 13 cases. On the other hand, Raigad and Mira Bhayander saw five cases each.

However, narratives highlight a positive nuance that no deaths were seen anywhere in Maharashtra. Trends, suggest that Wednesday usually registers the highest number of COVID-19 cases in contrast to others.  

With these latest updates in numbers, the active cases in Maharashtra have risen to 2,175 which entails 1,531 from Mumbai. Similarly, the overall recovery rate of the city is at 98 per cent and the doubling rate is 3973 days.
