On Tuesday, February 16, Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj museum (CSMVS) is to mark the opening with one-way pedestrian routes and lowered ticket prices.

According to a report in Hindustan Times, after the closure of operations due to the outbreak of the coronavirus, CSMVS has decided to conduct a phased reopening with four of the institution’s 18 galleries.

Moreover, natural history, Indian artefacts and the money and jewellery gallery, along with the Children’s Museum, will be open to visitors, for a price of INR 50 per adult and INR 20 per child, down from INR 100 and INR 30 respectively. In addition, the museum will be open all days of the week, but from 10 am to 3 pm at first, complementing the restricted local-train timings.

On the other hand, almost a year after it was shut, due to the COVID-19 lockdown, the Veermata Jijabai Bhosale (VJB) Udyan and Zoo, popularly known as Byculla zoo, is likely to open its door for visitors from February 15 under the state government’s Mission Begin Again.

According to zoo authorities, a proposal to reopen Byculla zoo from February 15, 2021, has been submitted to municipal commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal for approval. The zoo will be reopened post the approval. As the gardens and zoo reopen, visitors for the first time will also get a glimpse of the two Royal Bengal tigers named Shakti and Karishma, who were brought from Siddharth Garden and Zoo in Maharashtra's Aurangabad city last February and kept in quarantine.
